Ariya Jutanugarn was named female player of the year for 2016 by the Golf Writers Association of America.
Jutanugarn earned 85 percent of the votes after a season in which she won five times, including the Ricoh Women’s British Open. The 21-year-old from Thailand also captured the season-long Race to CME Globe and the money list.
It has been an incredible season for the modest young Thai who looks destined for even greater things in the future.
The men’s award went to Dustin Johnson and Bernhard Langer was senior player of the year.
