Security in Bangkok and nearby provinces is being increased following a tip-off about possible car bomb attacks later this month, according to a senior police official.
The deputy national police chief confirmed that police had received intel regarding possible attacks in three locations during Oct 25-30 in the capital and nearby provinces.
The dates follow an important Buddha day and the city is likely to be busier than normal with people visiting friends and families.
Authorities are on the alert and have been instructed to increase both surveillance and intelligence operations .
Whilst no specific targets have been indicated, there will be extra-tight security in tourist spots, embassies and symbolic locations.
The public should be extra-vigilant and should not hesitate to report any activity they believe to be suspicious.
