Social media has turned on the parents of a young motorcyclist for allowing his friends to turn up for his funeral on their bikes.

Dozens of bikes all revving their souped up engines turned up at the Bangkok temple funeral to say goodbye. But instead of parking outside they drove into the temple grounds and encircled the crematorium where the body of their friend was lying.

And among the friends on motorbikes were novice monks in robes.

Thais online were incredulous that monks at the temple had allowed such a thing.

But they reserved their strongest vitriol for the parents of the teen who had died for permitting his friends to do this saying it was disgraceful to allow the “dregs of society” into the temple like this.
