The rice harvest season is upon us again and the local Buriram farmers are reporting bumper yields for 2015. The rain arrived earlier in the year at just the time to promote growth and the sun came out at the right time to boost the thickness of the grain to give quality and weight for the harvest.
In Thailand and most of the Asian world rice is the main stay of their diet. The local rice merchants are also pleased with the quality of the grain this year. It is hoped that other rice growing areas of Thailand will enjoy the same good yields as Buriram.

The combine harvesters are out in force and it is rare now to see the traditional hand cutting which was the norm just a few years ago.
As we drive around the countryside we are pleased to see many smiling farmers drying their rice along the roadways knowing that they will be able to feed their family and have some extra reserves for the coming year. This will also give confidence to the rural economy of region.
