
With around 14,000 runners taking part in all the events, the first Buriram marathon was a resounding success. As expected the main event was dominated by the Kenyan runners who came in first, second and third.

1. Cosmas Mutuku 2hrs 17mins , winning 100,000 bht.
2. Charles Wachira Maina 2hrs 19mins 32 secs, 50,000 bht.
3. Bernard Muthoni 2hrs 23mins 50secs, 30,000 bht.
The best Thai runner was Boonthung Srisung 2hrs 29mins 10secs, 50,000 bht.
The women’s event was also dominated by African runners with Ethiopia and Kenya taking the first three places.
- Yeshumie Ayalew Ejigu 2hrs 40mins 52secs, 50,000 bht.
- Margaret Njukuna Wangui 2hrs 42mins 05secs 40,000 bht.
- Salina Jebet 2hrs 43mins 12secs, 30,000 bht
The best Thai runner was Tanaphon Assawawongcharoen 3hrs 18mins 55secs 50,000 bht

2. Bethwel Chemweno (Kenya) 1hr 04mins 04secs, 25,000 bht
