A 52-year-old military officer stationed at a camp in Buriram province has formally requested permission to conduct funeral ceremonies for two cyclists who tragically lost their lives in an accident involving his pickup truck. The incident occurred on Highway No. 24, stretching from Chokchai to Dech Udom, specifically at the 133+800 km mark within Chalerm Phrakiat district.

This collision resulted in the unfortunate demise of two individuals and injuries to four others, and it caused significant damage to the bicycles involved. Showing remorse and seeking forgiveness, the military officer named Chatchapetch, along with his parents, visited the families of the deceased. He pledged to undertake a religious ordination ceremony in front of the funeral pyres of the two victims and promised to discuss compensation matters with the affected families after the funeral rites are completed.

The first victim, a 64-year-old named Pichanon, was commemorated at Wat Hua Saphan in Nangrong district, Buriram province, with his funeral rites planned for later today. The second victim, a retired veterinarian named Narongchai, aged 65, was honored at Wat Nong Samet, also located in Nangrong district, with his funeral rites scheduled for tomorrow.

Chatchapetch is facing two charges: reckless driving leading to fatalities and injuries, and causing property damage as well as leaving the scene of the accident. The investigation is ongoing, with evidence being gathered for the prosecution of the case.

Two days ago, a tragic incident unfolded in which two cyclists lost their lives and others sustained injuries when a speeding pickup truck collided with a group of cyclists and fled the scene. This incident took place in the early morning darkness and has left the grieving families of the victims and the cycling community in shock, demanding justice.

Today, at 5 am, local police in Buriram province received an alert regarding the hit-and-run traffic accident involving the group of cyclists. Upon arriving at the accident site on Route 24, between Isan Khet and Chaloem Phra Kiat, they encountered a distressing scene, with fragments of mountain bikes scattered on the road and the confirmation of two fatalities.
