The much anticipated Buriram Golf Society “Ryder Cup” will take place next week with the pairs competition taking place on Tuesday. This will be four ball – better ball format and the singles will be played on Friday. Both will be match play, not stroke play.
The official Ryder Cup between Europe and the USA also starts next Friday at the Hazeltine National Golf Course, Chaska, Minnesota.
The Buriram version will be between Europe and the Rest of the World. Of course the Society players are NOT professionals and handicaps will come into the equation.
The pairs were drawn in the spirit of the official “Ryder Cup” at the clubhouse (Paddy’s Irish Bar) on Friday afternoon. The Captain for Europe is Tony Murphy (who is also the current Society Captain) and the Rest of the World will be led by Rod Young.
