A destructive fire ravaged an automotive accessories store in the heart of Chaiyaphum’s northeastern Issan province, resulting in damages exceeding 10 million baht. The blaze is believed to have originated from an electrical malfunction. This fire obliterated a shop that had been in operation for more than five decades.
At approximately 11:10 pm yesterday, Deputy Investigator Watcharin Huchaiyaphum of the Chaiyaphum City Police Station received an alert about the fire from the 191 Radio Centre. The fire had erupted at the Autosound Branch 5, a three-story commercial building located at 254/10-11, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chaiyaphum Province.
Upon arrival, more than 10 municipal fire trucks from Chaiyaphum and neighboring Subdistrict Administrative Organizations were at the scene, battling the flames that engulfed the entire commercial building from the first to the third floor. The ground floor of the building housed a shop specializing in sun-blocking films and car accessories. Due to the building’s height and the presence of combustible materials like engine oil and car accessories, additional fire trucks were called in for support.
Using their water trucks, it took the officials more than an hour and a half to bring the fire under control, as reported by KhaoSod. The shop’s owner, Somkid Suaysom, explained that he was sleeping beside the shop when he was alerted to the fire by his neighbors. He rushed downstairs to find his shop engulfed in flames. The suspected cause of the fire is an electrical short circuit, considering the shop’s long-standing presence of over 50 years. Preliminary estimates indicate damages totaling around 10 million baht.
After gaining control of the fire, Deputy Investigator Watcharin conducted a thorough examination of the scene, accompanied by the Evidence Verification Unit from the Chaiyaphum City Police Station, in order to further investigate the fire’s cause.
