As the conflict in Israel intensifies, Thai laborers in the area are becoming increasingly worried about their safety. Nevertheless, many are determined to stay and continue their work.
The recent outbreak of violence between Israel and the alleged Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas has resulted in a substantial number of rockets being launched into Israel, leading to multiple casualties. Among the victims are 12 Thai workers, as previously reported.
Sombat Traisakdi, the Deputy Governor of Chaiyaphum province, has disclosed that the province is taking steps to assist its local workers in Israel in response to the crisis. Currently, there are 772 Thai laborers from Chaiyaphum who are working legally in Israel, consisting of 742 men and 30 women, along with an unspecified number working illegally. The provincial authorities are expediting their efforts to determine the exact count of workers from each district currently in Israel so that they can provide the necessary assistance.
The Deputy Governor further revealed that the largest number of workers from Chaiyaphum come from Ban Thaen district with 144 individuals, followed by Phu Khiao with 133, Kaeng Khro with 110, Mueang district with 110, and Nong Bua Daeng with 68, with the rest scattered across other districts. Journalists on the ground managed to interview the relatives of Thai laborers in Israel. Some families have managed to maintain contact with their loved ones, while others, unfortunately, have lost communication.
Amidst the escalating conflict, the Thai government is ready to help all Thai laborers in Israel who wish to return home. The Thai embassy in Israel can be reached at the following number: 972-544693476. For those unable to contact their relatives, the Chaiyaphum Employment Office can be reached at 044-813-508 or via mobile at 080-732-3993. Both legal and illegal workers who want to return home can report their intentions immediately.
The report also highlighted that in Phu Khiao district, as many as 133 Thai laborers have gone to work in Israel, with 13 in the Olo sub-district alone. In various villages, relatives of Thai workers have been gathering, sharing updates, and expressing their concerns about their family members working in Israel. Many are unable to eat or sleep due to their anxiety, and some have been unable to reach their relatives, causing fear for their safety. They are urgently seeking assistance from the authorities to help establish contact with their loved ones.
Parents of Thai laborers in Israel are particularly worried about their children’s safety and are trying to stay in constant touch with them. However, they are urging the government to expedite the search and monitoring of Thai workers from Chaiyaphum due to their overwhelming concern. One mother, Sai Rung Meevuti, from Olo sub-district, Phu Khiao, Chaiyaphum province, was able to video call her son, Worachet Meevuti, to ensure his safety. Like many other Thai workers in Israel, Worachet remains determined to face the situation.
