Thailand national coach Kiatasak Senamuang is wary of the threat posed by Singapore in the second Group A match of the AFF Suzuki Cup today.
Holders Thailand go into the game as group leaders following Friday’s 4-2 win over Indonesia. Singapore were held to a goalless draw by the Philipines but the coach is well aware that they are capable of causing an upset.
Singapore, like Thailand, have won the trophy 4 times and they will be keen to get back on track with a victory over their big rivals.
Kiatasak will be hoping that his defence does not go to sleep as they did against Indonesia when they gifted their opponents two free-headers in the space of two minutes.
Singapore have a strong defence, as they showed on Saturday, when they held out for nearly an hour with ten men against the Philipines. The keeper was outstanding, producing a string of fine saves.
However, Thai hat-trick hero Teerasil will be looking to add to his goals tally as he needs only four more goals to become Thailand’s leading scorer in the Suzuki Cup.
He is presently on 12, level with coach Kiatasak.
The game is in the Philipines National Stadium this afternoon, kick- off 3.30pm Thai time. It is live on TV, Sports Channel 7.
