A murderer and rapist has come out of Thai prison to attack again – this time at a Thai public hospital in Nong Khai.
Police say they know the man who had killed and raped before.
In a horrific attack he went into the hospital with a knife and tried to get into a ward. When this failed he ran off and met the 25 year old nursing assistant in a laundry area.
There she was savagely attacked and raped before the assailant escaped from security.
The rapist had earlier gone into a hospital convenience store, bought some camphor and spread it on his genitals in full view of staff saying he wanted sex.
They called the police but it was too late to save the woman from the attack.
The hospital director said that the victim is under their care. He said that security at the hospital was good.
The shocking case is bound to dominate the news until the suspect – named only as “DoDo” 24, is caught. He is homeless and may have escaped over the border.
CCTV caught the man entering the Nong Khai Hospital just before 8pm on Sunday. He was dressed in shorts, a grey shirt and had flip-flops and a black backpack. He was wearing a face mask.
Despite the fact that he had a knife tucked into his trousers he gained access and went to a ward where a nurse denied him entry. She called security but before they could apprehend him he had ran off down some stairs.
Near a laundry area where the nursing assistant was getting some fresh bedding the man produced his knife.
He dragged the terrified woman off at knifepoint. She resisted and he smashed her in the face many times breaking two teeth.
Police later found bloodstains on the floor and a window in the area.
When security arrived a fight ensued but the rapist managed to scale a wall at the back of the hospital and escape into the night.
Police at the scene later found his bag and discarded shorts and underpants.
They said the man is known to them. He was previously in jail for murder and rape. He is homeless and may have escaped across the border on foot. A warrant has been issued.
The provincial police chief has called for the rapist his to be found without delay.
