Bank employees threatened by cop with gun.

A man who threatened bank employees with a gun is in fact a policeman.

He is Ekachat Somsiri attached to Bang Ken police station’s investigation unit.

Last Friday he was videod wielding a gun as he drove off outside his house as terrified bank employees were left standing in the street.

Ekarat was bare chested and without shoes.

The incident occurred at the Tawana housing estate in the Sai Mai area of Bangkok at the end of last week.

Now his wife has appeared on television with a sob story about all the problems she and her husband have faced recently.

She has gone on to claim that she was scared by the bank employees – two women and a man – who arrived to take back the Honda Jazz which was two years behind with the payments.

She alleges that the employees did not produce ID so she phoned her husband who was sleeping upstairs, asking him to come down. He believed she was under threat and so came with his gun, she said.

Footage of the incident posted online clearly showed the policeman brandishing a gun and fleeing in the car in question.

Wife Noppawan Jeera said that the car was in her name. After her mother came to stay and got sick she ran out of money and refinanced the car and didn’t pay the installments, she said on TV as she sobbed.

She didn’t tell her husband what she had done until later.

She claims to have tried to pay at 7/11 and then the bank but it wouldn’t go through. One thing led to another then it was two years, now her and her husband were in this mess.

The neighbours won’t speak to them and she had to borrow money for her mum’s funeral from friends, she went on.

When they came to repossess she said she was scared as she was all alone after going out to the car.  They had no ID, she felt threatened and didn’t know what to do. As there was no one else about she called her husband to come and help, she went on.

She indicated that she didn’t gamble and her husband gives her 1,000 baht every two days to look after the two kids. Now she has her husband to worry about as well.

A police complaint has been lodged by the bank employees and it is not yet known what happened to the police officer.
