During my report on the Army v Buriram United League Cup Semi-final, I expressed sympathy for Diogo following his red card which means he misses the Final. The referee made a lot of mistakes and I feel that no-way should Diogo have been sent off.
However, having now seen footage of the Brazilian’s reaction to the official, I have to say that as an ex-player and referee, I am very disappointed with Diogo. Regardless of any official’s performance, they have to be shown respect because without them there is no football.
Diogo went way over the top and has let himself,the team and the supporters down.The reaction of Kun Newin said it all. Let us hope that Diogo learns from this and that his thoughtless behaviour does not have an effect on Buriram’s title bid.
