The press has recorded in some detail this week that Trump signed an executive order in the Oval Office on Monday pulling the United States out of the 2015 TPP agreement and distancing the United States from its Asian allies.

However, Shen Dingli, vice dean of the Institute of International Affairs, at Shanghai’s Fudan University in China is skeptical that Trump will continue on his campaign rhetoric given the deep ties between the world’s two biggest economies.

With regard to Thailand and the USA, there remains a very close long standing alliance, which goes back to the 60/70’s when the Vietnam conflict was a major international concern. That bond remains and trade along with international agreements remain stable.

The Thai Government is on record that they will continue to work with the new administration and the President of the United States of America.
