Yesterday, authorities were called to investigate a disturbing incident in Thung Fon district, located in Thailand’s Udon Thani province. A husband was reported to have violently killed his wife using a bamboo stick. The tragic event took place at their residence in Ban Kam Ta Tan, Moo 6, situated in the Thung Yai sub-district.

Upon reaching the scene, the police discovered the lifeless body of Ruedee Khetkhongkwang, a 54-year-old woman who had suffered severe injuries from a forceful assault with a solid object.

The primary suspect in the murder case was identified as the victim’s husband, Pornsai Sri Chaiyamool, who initially fled the scene but was apprehended by the authorities shortly afterward. In his statement, Pornsai admitted to the crime, confessing that he had killed his wife after finding her asleep. The motive behind the incident was rooted in a jealousy-fueled argument. The couple had been living together for nearly a year, working in rice farming and general labor. They had two children from previous relationships residing with them.

The turning point in their tumultuous relationship occurred on the night of the incident when their daughter and son-in-law invited Pornsai to accompany them to a traditional festival. However, Ruedee chose not to go with them and instead instructed her husband to leave and never return. Pornsai didn’t go far and eventually bought a large bottle of alcohol, which he consumed. When he returned home, intoxicated and enraged by Ruedee’s words, he found her asleep. In a fit of anger, he viciously attacked her with a bamboo stick. He then sought refuge in a nearby shack by their rice field until his arrest.

After being apprehended, Pornsai expressed remorse and expressed a desire to apologize to his deceased wife by paying his respects to her remains. Neighbors disclosed that both the victim and the perpetrator were known to be habitual alcohol drinkers, often engaging in arguments when under the influence. Typically, their disputes would result in Pornsai leaving the house, and they would reconcile when sober.
