The not really Grumpy Old Men Society.

For those who are not familiar with the Grumpy Old Men Society or GOMS as they are affectionately known, they are a group who meet up and try to find ways of helping the community.

I have been asked to point out that Neil is the only really grumpy old man, the rest are pretty affable fellows. At the moment there are twelve members and they meet on the first Thursday of each month at the Harley Route 288 Bar , 4pm.

It is a social occasion and they have a meal and a few drinks while at the same time discussing ways of helping the community in the Buriram area.

To give you an example, one of their upcoming projects is providing baby food at Huarat Hospital New Born Unit and the hospital has also asked them to help with providing adult diapers for the unfortunate incontinent patients.

Each member puts 100 bht into the Society’s funds every time they attend a meeting and non-attendees are charged a nominal sum. Obviously, further donations from members are gratefully accepted as are any from non-members.

Anyone interested in joining the GOMS or who would simply like to learn more about what goes on, you are most welcome to drop in at the Harley 288 on a meeting day . Next one is Thursday October 5.

The Society has helped many people since their inception so if you fancy having a sociable afternoon every month and donating a bit of time to helping those who are less fortunate then you would be made very welcome.

They can be contacted on gomsburiram@gmail.com
