Heartbroken father sets house ablaze.

An Australian expat lost the plot and set fire to his RENTED house yesterday in Surat Thani after his girlfriend left him, taking their young son with her.

When the police and firefighters arrived at the scene they found 65-year-old Edward Woodward in a distressed state wielding a kitchen knife behind his entrance gates.

The fire was beginning to take hold and the police refused to negotiate with the angry Aussie until he let firemen inside to put out the blaze.

He was eventually disarmed and then poured his heart out to anyone who’d listen to his side of the sob story.

A short time later his girlfriend showed up to see what was going on. She told police they’d recently moved into the rented house; however, she’d had enough of the constant arguments and finally left after Mr Woodward “allegedly” threatened her and their son with a knife.

Police in control

Police believe that stress was the likely reason for him to attempt to burn the house down!!
