According to the Meteorological Department, Thailand is set to encounter heavy rainfall and floods in 54 provinces, with a 70% chance of precipitation throughout the country. Flash floods are anticipated in Bangkok, while the Andaman Sea is expected to witness increased wave heights today.
As per the 24-hour forecast by the Meteorological Department, there will be intense rainfall and thunderstorms caused by a low-pressure area trough originating from the South China Sea. This will combine with a strong southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The low-pressure trough will pass through Myanmar and enter the northern and upper northeastern regions of Thailand. This weather system is likely to result in heavy rainfall, particularly in the northeastern, eastern, and western coastal areas of the southern part of the country. Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious as flash floods and rapid forest runoffs are possible.
The Andaman Sea, particularly its upper portion, is expected to experience waves ranging from 2 to 3 meters high, with thunderstorms possibly causing waves exceeding 3 meters. Additionally, the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand may witness waves reaching up to 2 meters in height. Fishermen are cautioned to exercise caution and avoid sailing in areas affected by thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to remain onshore until June 10.
The northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and western coastal regions of southern Thailand are likely to experience heavy rainfall in certain areas. The minimum temperatures in these regions will range from 23 to 28 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperatures will range between 30 and 37 degrees Celsius. Southwest winds are predicted to blow at speeds ranging from 10 to 40 kilometers per hour.
