Last Minute Fix Wins The Race For CEA

fixWith just minutes to go before their second race of this weekend’s Grand Prix Racing League race at Chang International Circuit, CEA finally fixed the engine issues that had plagued them the day before causing the Danish driver to settle for second place

Deciding to rest over night and get to work on the engine in the morning with fresh heads paid off for the team mechanics as they sorted the problems from the previous day.

Only thirty minutes were remaining before the race start when they gave themselves the all clear. Up until that moment it was possible that they may have had to miss the race entirely.

Starting off in second place this time, Thomas got off to a speeding start and had claimed the front position on turn three of the first lap. He never looked back from that point onwards.

Starting in Second

Having an engine now at full capacity, the multiple championship holder stretched the gap to more than seven seconds with two laps to go of the six lap race.

Now with ample time in hand, last years champions could ease off in the final laps. The time difference between CEA and the second driver then dropped to 2.973 seconds at the finish line.

None the less it was an easy victory for CEA. This was a totally different race form the day before where Thomas “The Rain Master” Raldorf faced a three lap duel for first place while his engine was underpowered.

Owing to the lack of strength under the bonnet, on that occasion, second place was the best the CEA Logistics sponsored team could do.

Today’s race was a different story and once in front, Thomas showed his class by totally dominating the race for all six laps.

Thomas may be the driver, however without the superb back up of mechanics and engineers the CEA racing team wouldn’t be what it is today.

Credit must be given to the dedicated mechanic team of Sven Thummel and Dear (above right) who often spend sleepless nights repairing issues with the team car before races.

For this particular series a specialist engineer is also employed. Peter Hunter (above left) collects data from the onboard computer and advises of the smallest intricate changes to the set up of the car.

The data collected also allows Peter to advise Thomas on his driving strategy at all points on the track.  Advising Thomas on how to take just one particular corner of Chang International Circuit, Peter saved Thomas a sixth of a second on that corner alone. This ended up being the difference between him and the second fastest qualifying racer.

On the promotional side, Earl Brown does an admirable job of increasing the exposure of the CEA racing team providing excellent value to their sponsors.

It must be appreciated that this truly is a team effort and each individual plays a vital role to towards the success of the CEA team.

Last but not least special mention should go to CEA’s sister team driver Dean Callister who also came first in his class. Well done Dean. First place all round for CEA.
