Late Equalizer Can’t Hide Very Disappointing Display By Buriram

Pansa came up with a stoppage-time header to deny newly-promoted Chainat Hornbill. Of course, you can’t read too much into the first “proper”game of the season but certain things emerged that are a concern.

The quality of passing was embarrassing at times as was the standard of crossing. Seul-Ki is going to be a massive miss unless a quality replacement is found soon. Thailand “Player of the Year” Jakkaphan again showed his inability to keep possession and thread balls into dangerous areas.

Samson showed he has genuine pace, as did Edgar, and it will take time for them to settle. The game also showed the unsavoury face of Thai football, with numerous needless free-kicks conceded by both sides. Naturally, this was followed by the customary lying on the floor, seemingly at death’s door !A typically picky Thai referee did not help in this department.

Let’s hope things improve against Chiang Rai next week !
