Following Henrik Stenson’s outstanding win at The Open, Magnus Sundgren made it a Swedish double in the Buriram Golf Society’s Claret Jug competition.
As reported earlier, it was a two round stableford competition, played at the Khao Kadong Golf Course at the army base in Buriram.
Magnus was trailing first-round leader Rod Young by 5 points but the popular Irish Bar proprietor had a bad day with the putter and his challenge fell away.

Runner-up was Lindsay Warden , with Colin Bradwell coming in third.
1st. Magnus Sundgren 61 pts (28, 33 )

2nd. Lindsay Warden 58 pts (26, 32 )

3rd. Colin Bradwell 57 pts (29, 28 )

Following the completion of the competition the players adjourned to Paddy’s Irish Bar for the presentation. Rod Young and his staff put on a delicious buffet and thanks also to Peter Bourne’s good lady for providing spring rolls.
After everyone had eaten their fill, Society President Peter Dempsey and Society Captain Tony Murphy presented the prizes. Many of the players stayed on to chat about their rounds over a few “cold ones” to bring proceedings to a close.

Everyone agreed that the tournament had been a great success and it will be held annually to coincide with The Open.

A most welcome and surprise visitor was La from the Bamboo Bar who thoroughly enjoyed herself before returning to “work”.
