A 47-year-old man was taken into custody by the police on suspicion of murdering his 21-year-old girlfriend at a resort in the Buriram province’s Isaan province. Although the man admitted to physically assaulting the woman, he claimed that he did not anticipate her death.

The incident occurred at a resort in the Lam Plai Mart district of Buriram province on May 24, when the couple, along with their tomboy friend, checked in for the night. The following day, the woman named Jurarat was found dead. Her boyfriend and their tomboy friend alleged that she had attempted suicide.

After an extensive search for the two suspects, authorities from Satuek and Lam Plai Mart Police Station apprehended the woman’s boyfriend at another resort within the province. The accused individual was identified as Pramuan, aged 47.

During questioning, Pramuan confessed to physically assaulting Jurarat through multiple beatings. However, he claimed that his girlfriend lost consciousness after consuming an excessive quantity of unidentified medication.

Pramuan stated that he attempted to save Jurarat’s life by removing her shirt and performing CPR. When his efforts yielded no response, he sought assistance from a maid at the resort.

Expressing his love for Jurarat, Pramuan mentioned that he had frequently provided her with financial support. However, he alleged that Jurarat had been dishonest with him, attempting to extort money from him to secure her lover’s release from jail. He further stated that witnessing another man pick up his girlfriend in front of his house had driven him to contemplate suicide.

Pramuan expressed remorse for his actions, admitting that he had contemplated taking his own life upon learning of his girlfriend’s death. He claimed to have been waiting at the second resort for updates on her condition and was prepared to end his life if she did not survive. However, he was apprehended by the police before he could act.

Although drug paraphernalia was discovered in the room, Pramuan denied using any drugs and asserted that they belonged to Jurarat.

According to KhaoSod, Pramuan runs a brokerage company that deals with buying and reselling second-hand cars. He is known as Sia Muan among his neighbors and customers, with “Sia” meaning rich man in Thai.

The Selaphum Police Station in Roi Et province issued an arrest warrant for Pramuan on drug-related charges. He will face prosecution for his girlfriend’s death before being transferred to Roi Et for further legal proceedings.

Initially, Pramuan was charged with causing fatal bodily harm, which carries a prison sentence ranging from three to fifteen years.
