A man died early this morning after his car collided with the BMW belonging to the son of Thailand’s top comedian “Nong Cha Cha Cha.”

The deceased, was making a U-turn on Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Road outside of Bangkok when his car crashed into the BMW of Kittibhumi Iamsuk, 28, who was driving in the middle lane, according to police.

Police said the comedian’s son could not hit the brake in time and crashed right into the man’s car.

Kittibhumi was slightly injured and was sent to Paolo Rangsit Hospital. Rescue volunteers found that the other driver had died instantly in his Mitsubishi Lancer.

Nong Cha Cha Cha, or Pongsak Pongsuwan, 43, who regularly appears on television, spoke to the media to say that his son could not avoid the oncoming car in time, and the young man remains traumatized by the accident.

Pongsak added that his son was driving back from their family’s noodle restaurant in Nakhon Nayok to his home in Pathum Thani.

Police gave Pornpichit an alcohol test pending the investigation. No charges have been pressed.

So the nightmare of making a U-turn in Thailand continues. They have been badly designed and are incredibly dangerous. When vehicles travelling in both directions are using the turns at the same time, clear visibility is impossible.

We drive on the left here and in order to have a clear view it would be necessary to turn at the end of the gap in the cental reservation, not the beginning. Another problem is that many drivers increase their speed and frantically flash their lights to say they are NOT giving way. A practice which almost got me killed when I first started driving here as in the UK it means exactly the OPPOSITE.
