Having watched Omar almost single-handedly dismantle Thailand’s defence, one can only sit back and admire the silky skills of this gifted footballer.
I can safely say that since coming to Thailand, he is the best Asian player I have seen. He has everything, fantasic weight and range of passing, pace, vision and a selflessness that is rarely found in footballers of this type.
His attitude is exemplary. When he is fouled (which is often) he immediately gets up to continue the game. No histrionics, no complaining to the referee and no trying to get opponents yellow or red carded.
At 25 years of age, his best years are ahead of him and he is a shining example to young players from any country. He was with Manchester City for a short time in 2012 but returned home. Now, clubs all over Europe are keen to acquire his services.
However, it is likely that they will be disappointed as he has recently signed a new four-year contract with his club Al Ain, worth a staggering 14 million dh (130 million bht).
I look forward to seeing him again in the return match.
