New Dao Bar in Pattaya.

On a recent visit to Pattaya to watch Buriram United, we came across the New Dao Cafe  which is situated in the ‘Dark Side’ of Pattaya.

There is nothing sinister in the name which stems from the time when that part of Pattaya lacked street lighting. It has become a popular residential area but there are entertainment venues worth checking out. This is certainly one of them.

Situated fifteen minutes from central Pattaya, Dao Bar and Guesthouse is an idyllic venue for any vacation. The hotel’s Facebook page gives its address as Boonsamphan or Nern Plup Waan Soi Chatkeaw 9. However, many locals would say it was Soi Khao Noi.

Dao Bar and Guesthouse, features a cafe, bar, restaurant and a large swimming pool, much of which has been completely refurbished.

Rooms start at 690 bht.

The rooms feature TV, air conditioning, mini-bar, safe with some offering a pool view. Rooms are clean, spacious and modern.

The location of the large swimming pool, permits guests to eat or drink within its vicinity. The restaurant features an  la carte menu consisting of both European and Thai cuisine. Many offerings are of Belgian and French origins. There is something to suit all tastes.

The cafe provides lighter bites including pastries, croissants, baguettes, desserts and coffees.

A diverse menu is available for visitors to select from. Dao Cafe offer racks of ribs, sausages and mash, hunter’s chicken, pastas, beef stew, pizza, steaks, chicken dishes and hand cut chips can all be found on the menu. There is a strong European presence on the menu but there is an good selection of Thai food, should you feel like trying local cuisine.

All are reasonably priced , as are the large selection of drinks on offer.

On Sundays there is an all- you- can- eat set menu which is changed every week, priced at 295 bht.

They offer a large selection of breads and baguettes, including both whole grain and white varieties. Puff pastries such as chocolate rolls, butter croissants and a selection of buns can be purchased. Finish off with a dessert such as ice cream, a black coffee or chocolate mousse or cream charlotte.

Laundry and dry cleaning services are available. Simply ask at the reception. Dao Bar and Guesthouse can handle your travel arrangements, irrespective of your destination. The hotel provides room service if you fancy a night in.

The staff are friendly and will give you a warm welcome. They speak Thai, French and English. They will ensure your stay is a happy one.

Even pets get a warm welcome.

The girls in the bar will ensure your time there is far from boring as their sense of humour is boundless.

So if you’re looking for somewhere a bit quieter with a touch of class next time you’re in Pattaya, this maybe ideal for you.
