A 65-year-old man, his wife and nephew were fortunate to come out alive after he drove his pickup through a guarded railway crossing and was hit by a train early on Sunday morning.

The accident happened in Nabon district at 6.30am on the crossing about 300 metres from Nabon station.

Rescue workers pulled the driver, his wife, 59, and their 14-year-old nephew from the wreck and took them to hospital. They were only slightly injured because the train was slowing down as it approached the station.

The driver said he decided to dodge around the safety barrier because he thought he could get across to the other side before the train reached it.

Incredibly, the elderly driver believed the family escaped death because of  supernatural help from the amulets he and his nephew were carrying.

Not surprisingly, the train driver disagreed , stating that the only reason the family survived was that he was slowing down.

He went on to say that all warning systems at the crossing were working properly but the pickup drove around the barrier and cut in front of him.

So the moral of the story is, only play Russian roulette if you are carrying the correct amulets !!!

ONLY in Thailand !
