Seven Deadly Days: Top RTP Commanders Happy With The Songkran Road Stats

Lt-Gen Prachuap Wongsuk told Thai Rath yesterday that the top brass at the RTP were satisfied as the so called “Seven Deadly Days” on the Songkran roads came to an end.

Prachuap said all the accident stats were better than Songkran 2021.

The media reported that Big Pat – RTP chief Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk – and Big Den – Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat – were pleased with the numbers.

In the first six days there were 1,720 accidents or 392 (185) less than last year.

Injuries were also down 19%.

The death toll was 237 – 14 less or 5.58% down.

There were a total of 336,975 traffic offences listed below in a top ten:

◼︎ No helmet 57,021

◼︎ “Dangerous motorcycle” 10,180

◼︎ DUI 14,544

◼︎ No seatbelt 16,262

◼︎ No licence 67,341

◼︎ Speeding 155, 511

◼︎ Going through red lights 9,216,

◼︎ Going the wrong way 4,477

◼︎ Overtaking in the wrong place 845 and

◼︎ Using a phone while driving 1,578.
