Yesterday, a sudden storm hit Chaiyaphum province in northeastern Thailand, resulting in blocked roads and flooding due to fallen trees. Despite the darkness, two drivers managed to escape unharmed after their cars slipped off the road. Authorities have been called upon to enhance the lighting in the area to reduce the occurrence of accidents.

In various parts of Chaiyaphum province, heavy rainfall and strong winds led to flooding and the obstruction of multiple roads by fallen trees. Prompt action was taken by municipal officials in Chaiyaphum city to inspect and clear the roads, ensuring smoother traffic flow for residents. Additionally, a large tree fell, blocking access to the Non Samor community and necessitating the use of an alternative route near the Chaiyaphum Vanaram temple for entry and exit.

In Ban Kheaw district, the storm caused flooding on Highway 225, which connects Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Sawan provinces. This area, where a four-lane road is currently under construction, lacks sufficient lighting for drivers. Consequently, a pickup truck and a sedan veered off the road and became submerged in water. Fortunately, all occupants managed to escape before their vehicles were engulfed by the floodwaters.

Chai, one of the drivers involved, shared his account of the incident. He was on his way back home to Khon Kaen province after a trip from Sub Yai district when the accident occurred. The storm, heavy rain, poor visibility, and strong winds prompted him to reduce his speed, but he ultimately lost control of his car, causing it to veer off the road. Chai appealed to the relevant authorities to improve the lighting along Highway 225 between Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Sawan provinces to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.
