Taxi driver escapes blaze.

It was a very lucky escape for one taxi driver who fell asleep at the wheel of his taxi before the whole car went up in flames in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Having just purchased a new taxi Chatchai Nanen, 50, was on route to Samut Sakhon when he fell asleep.

The car collided with the edge of the road between Chiang Rak and Bang Khan in Pathum Thani.

The impact of the collision caused the taxi to instantly burst into flames and despite suffering head wounds of which one nearly completely severed the sleeping cabbies tongue he was able to escape the car just in time.

Klong Luang police stated it took firefighters 10 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Once the blaze was extinguished the formerly red Toyota Altis taxi was towed away by police as evidence and an investigation is underway to get to the bottom of what exactly happened, officers will speak to the driver again.

Hopefully, the driver is actually able to speak !
