Rescuers in the Isaan province of Udon Thani helped an eight year old Thai boy who suffered a severe injury to his testicles after he tripped and fell on a sharp tree stump.

A 47 year old Thai mother reported the accident to the Song Serm Tham Rescue Foundation at 3pm yesterday, February 22. The incident scene was a roadside forest full of white lead trees in the Nong Khon sub-district, Mueang district, Udon Thani province.

Upon arrival, rescuers heard the boy crying out loud in pain. His mother and other family members surrounded him and put up an umbrella to protect him from the afternoon sun. The boy reportedly sat on the ground with a tree stump, about 30 metres long, piercing his testicles.

According to the rescue team, it was too dangerous to pull the stump out of the boy’s testicles. Rescuers decided to inject the boy with an anaesthetic and carefull

The boy’s mother told ThaiRath that her son and his friend were playing hide and seek at the spot. She did not ask how he ended up tripping on the stump but assumed that he might have stumbled on it and fallen to the ground while running and looking for a hiding place.

The mother added that her son usually stayed at home and did not go out to play with friends. She was shocked to learn of the accident.

The mother and the media did not provide the public with an update on the boy’s condition.
