The Thai FA have rejected Muang Thong’s appeal to have the decision to ban their fans from attending matches this season lfted. This includes the League Cup Final against Buriram in Bangkok on October 15.
Initially, the ban was for 5 games which would have run into next season. However, the FA rather uncharacteristically have changed their minds and now the ban is for this season only.
Whilst on the subject of the League Cup Final, Muang Thong have written to the FA requesting that the game be postponed from October 15 to November 6. The grounds for this request is that they have 9 players with the National squad who don’t return to Thailand until October 12.
The FA have said that they will consider it and I think I could hazard a fair guess at what that decision will be. However, being honest I feel that it is a reasonable request, given the circumstances.
Why did the FA arrange the game for October 15 in the first place when they knew that both teams would have players in the National squad returning only three days before the final ?
It’s just another case of problems arising which could have been avoided with some forward planning. Some things never seem to change.
