Thailand has clinched a spot in the top 30 of the 2023 Best Countries list by the American media company US News & World Report. The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington DC shared this exciting news on Facebook today, attracting attention from Thai citizens and news agencies. This ranking takes into account various global factors, such as daily life experiences, adaptability, cultural influence, entrepreneurial spirit, historical heritage, quality of life, and more.
Thailand achieved a respectable overall score of 52.9 out of a possible 100, securing the 29th position out of 87 countries on the list. The report specifically highlights Thailand’s low poverty and unemployment rates, alongside its strong agricultural and manufacturing sectors, contributing to its impressive performance as the “Land of Smiles.” The report also acknowledges Thailand as a major rice exporter and a leader in industries like textiles, tin, and electronics. Additionally, Thailand’s status as one of the world’s top travel destinations is noted.
Thailand received its highest score in the adventure category, emphasizing the role of adventurous experiences in reducing stress and enhancing overall well-being. The nation also scored well in categories like heritage, economic dynamism, and business-friendly environment.
Switzerland claims the top spot as the best country in the world, while Iran occupies the last position on the list. Several Asian nations have secured notable rankings, including Japan at 6th place, Singapore at 16th, China at 20th, and South Korea at 21st.
Among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, Malaysia secured the 38th position, followed by Indonesia at 41st, the Philippines at 43rd, Vietnam at 44th, Cambodia at 64th, and Myanmar at 80th.
In a separate report released in June, Thailand also achieved the 43rd position out of 166 countries in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Report for 2023, solidifying its position as the leading ASEAN nation in this ranking.
