Thailand Start Their Quest To Qualify For 2018 World Cup Tonight

Thailand play their first match in the Third Round of World Cup qualifying in Saudi Arabia tonight, kick off 00.30 Thai time. The teams are joined in Group B by Japan, Australia, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

The twelve Asian qualifiers from the Second Round have been split into two groups of six and they will play each other home and away in the next twelve months. The top two from each group will qualify for the finals in Russia.

The two third placed teams will meet home and away and the winners will go into a play-off with a team from the American continent.

Thailand face a daunting task in their quest to reach the final stages of a world cup for the first time and they badly need to come away with something tonight. The War Elephants then meet Japan in Bangkok on September 6, kick off 07.15 pm.
