Rescuers working hard.

There has only been one story dominating both media and the topic of conversation among the populus of Thailand for the last nine days. People all over the country have been showing genuine concern over the plight of the missing boys despite the fact they are total strangers.

Loss of life is always tragic but the thought of losing 12 young boys in such circumstances was too much to contemplate. In a previous article, the British men who actually found the missing party were called heroes, and so they are. But that only tells a small part of the story.

Every single person who took part and is still taking part, are heroes. They have worked tirelessly as a team without any regard for their own safety and we at the Times Group salute and thank all of them.

There is still much to do before the boys are reunited with their families and the danger is far from over. But now they can be properly supplied and helped as rescuers formulate a plan to bring them to safety.

Already there is talk that their coach could face criminal charges. This is not the time to talk about this. Did he intentionally lead the boys into danger? Absolutely not so under Thai law he can’t be charged.

Would it serve any purpose to attempt to prosecute him? Again, absolutely not. Obviously his decision to take them into the cave was not the best one he has ever made, but there is little doubt that he will have played a huge role in keeping the boys safe until help arrived.

So for now, let’s all be grateful that they have been found alive and raise several glasses to the amazing team of rescuers.
