Buriram Pie Man Beef PieAfter buying some much missed pies and pasties on a long border run five years ago, an idea was born.

On returning back to Buriram Steve (the pie man to be) wondered if he could acquire anything similar food wise within the city.

Realising that nothing was readily available and why would anyone travel all the way to the border for a pie, Steve decided to have a go himself.

Undeterred by any lack of facilities, the business got going from a tiny cramped kitchen with a small half working oven.

Steve, his wife Sanga, and their daughter Star all helped in the proceedings. Very quickly a few small orders were acquired.

Originally named “Star Foods” after Steve’s daughter, the name eventually changed to “The Buriram Pie Man”. A canny nickname picked up by Steve  in some expat forum discussions stuck and this was how he was known from then on.

Despite the name change, all foods made by The Pie Man still carry the “Star Foods” banner.

Over the last five years, the business has steadily grown and developed from supplying occasional friends and acquaintances to providing for hotels, resorts and large retail outlets.

Delivering as far as Bangkok, Udon and Pattaya, their extensive network of customers covers a wide geographical area. They even have a customer in Cambodia.

New Premises

pie Man HouseAfter having outgrown not one but two sets of kitchen facilities, the family finally built a premises of their own which opened in March of this year.

Providing a large kitchen and storage space, the new building is a shop outlet for their food products as well as a causal village dining restaurant. They do sell beer too!

As the business has grown so has their product range. You can now chose from over thirty different kinds of delicious fresh pie fillings.

Other products include frozen cuts of quality meat such as pork chops, various beef steaks, different types of bacon, and beef burgers.

The slightly less usual items of Cheeses, Scotch eggs, black pudding, Indian curries, lasagne and even duck liver pate are included in their comprehensive home made food selection.

You can go and see Steve and his lovely family at their shop. At the premises you can either enjoy their products cooked to order or take them away frozen to enjoy at home.

Ordering by telephone is perfectly ok too. Either way, why not try a bit of legendary Buriram pie history for yourself.
