The Kings Cup is currently underway in Buriram, being played at the Chang Arena, home of Buriram United. Organized by the by Football Association of Thailand four teams, India, Vietnam and Curacao join the hosts Thailand. Two games have already been played on the 5th June and disappointingly the hosts were knocked out against Vietnam who scored in the last 30 seconds of injury time.
Vietnam now go on the play Curacao in the final who beat India quite comfortably 3 – 1.
Two games will be played on the 8th June. Thailand vs India, at 3:30pm, for the 3rd and 4th places and then the final between Vietnam and Curacao at 7:45pm.
Of the 4 teams competing Thailand have won the competition 15 times, Vietnam have been runners up once and India have managed a 3rd place, Curacao, the highest FIFA ranked team at 82, are playing in their first Kings Cup. They have travelled a long way to compete in this tournament and I am sure they won’t want to go home empty handed. It will be a tough game against Vietnam who are FIFA ranked 98 and probably the best ASEAN national team at this time.
Tickets are available on the day at the arena so come along and soak up the atmosphere.
