The Bamboo Darts Team travelled to meet Ryan’s Resort for the third match of their series. Ryan’s Resort had triumphed in the first two meetings but it was an optimistic team that set out from the Bamboo Bar.
It was a multi-national team consisting of four Englishmen, two Scots and two Thais and Captain Peter Dempsey was confident of success. After an hour long journey the team was welcomed by the opposition who had now become old friends.
The format was to be eight singles of 501, a team game of 1001 and a Captains’ game of 501 between Peter Dempsey and Colin Bradwell. In the singles Ryan’s took a 3-2 lead but the Bamboo won the last three games to take a 5-3 lead.
Most of the games were close due to the finishing not being exactly of the highest quality. In fact one game in particular had people searching the Guiness Book of Records for the longest darts match to ever take place.
The team game was a very close affair with the sides being neck and neck right down to the last double. Yet again the Bamboo triumphed to go 6-3 up. In the Captain’s game, the Bamboo captain dominated from the start to take the match without too much trouble.

So a final 7-3 scoreline went some way to making up for the earlier disappointments and it was a happy Bamboo team who set off back to the Bamboo Bar in Buriram.
The Ryan’s Captain, Colin Bradwell had celebrated his birthday two days earlier and he very kindly provided lunch for all the players. Congratulations Garry and his staff on providing another exceptional hot buffet.
The proceedings were rounded off with a game of “Killer Pool” which was still going on when the team left. It was a most enjoyable afternoon, played in a competitive yet ever-friendly spirit.
The two young Thais from the Bamboo team certainly enjoyed their day to the fullest, and the captain had been heard to say on more than one occasion that the team had done him proud !.
The next game will be held at the Bamboo bar at a later date.
