Tourist Police have helped reunite a 99 year old Swiss man with his Thai wife who he hadn’t seen for more than 3 years.
Emile Georges Jean-Petit-Matile had contacted Tourist Police from his home in Switzerland asking for help in locating his Thai wife after the pair became estranged when he was forced to return to his home land for medical treatment.
That was more than three years ago and without any form of communication during that time, Emile told officers of his wish to see his wife one more time before died.
The only information Emile had about his wife was an address on Koh Phangan. Taking up the case, Tourist Police officers at Suvarnabhumi contacted their counterparts on Samui, who in turn began to search for Emile’s wife on neighbouring island Koh Phangan.
The address officers had been given proved not to be correct but locals were able to point officers in the direction of an elderly Thai lady who lived with her family it was thought was once married to a western man.
Turns out the lady was indeed Emile’s wife.
The lady was reportedly overcome with tears of joy when she was told Emile was trying to contact her.
She explained to officers the pair had been married for twenty years but her husband was forced to go back to Switzerland for medical treatment and she hadn’t heard from him since.
After being informed his wife had been located, the 99 year old flew over from Switzerland to Thailand and the pair are set to be reunited later today (25 June).
Times comment:- AT LAST, A HAPPY STORY TO PRINT !!!!
