Nine people lost their lives when a cement-mixer truck crossed a traffic island and collided with an oncoming van in Chiang Rai province.
The fatal accident took place in Chiang Rai’s Muang district.
The truck driver and eight people in the van were killed, while four other people were injured.
An initial investigation showed that the truck driver lost control of his vehicle as he was trying to overtake a motorcycle. The truck went over the traffic island and hit the van.
The van was travelling from Chiang Rai’s Mae Chan district to Muang district.
