Authorities are warning the public about a new type of ecstasy, said to resemble Chinese plum powder, which is cheaper and stronger than ketamine, with which the drug is sometimes combined.
The drug has already been spotted in Taiwan, said the deputy secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB). He was responding to reports circulating in social media of the new form of methylenedioxymethamphetamine or MDMA, known on the street as ecstasy.
The pink powder reportedly is sold in re-sealable zippered plastic bags. Users mix it with beverages or with tobacco in hand-rolled cigarettes. It is said to be cheaper but stronger than ketamine, an animal tranquilliser that is sometimes taken in combination with MDMA.
The drug was first seized from a man in Tainan city in Taiwan in 2015. The narcotic, like powdered plum mentioned in posts, is called ‘King Kong’ in Taiwan,”. It has not been reported in Thailand but the ONCB is watching out for it. It may be a new form of ecstasy.
Parents should warn their children not to accept any drinks or food from a stranger. (Sound advice in any circumstances)
