The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather alert for Thailand’s northern region, anticipating a 3-degree Celsius temperature rise today, with potential rainfall in certain areas.
Over the next 24 hours, a high-pressure system or cold air mass currently enveloping northern Thailand and the South China Sea is weakening. This condition has caused morning fog and a temperature increase of 1 to 3 degrees Celsius in the north. Meanwhile, the morning weather remains cool in the northern and northeastern regions.
Eastern winds are carrying moisture to the lower northern, lower northeastern, central, and eastern areas, resulting in intermittent rainfall. Residents in the north are advised to take care of their health due to these fluctuating weather conditions and to exercise caution while traveling through foggy areas. Farmers are urged to take precautions to safeguard their crops from potential damage during this period.
The northeast monsoon affecting the Gulf of Thailand and the southern region is moderately strong, coupled with a low-pressure zone over the eastern side of Malaysia, leading to heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the lower southern areas.
The forecast for Thailand between 6 am today and 6 am tomorrow predicts cool mornings with fog in the northern, northeastern, central, and eastern regions. Temperatures are expected to increase by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius with light rain in certain areas.
Anticipated temperatures range from 16 to 22 degrees Celsius in the northern region, 19 to 22 degrees Celsius in the northeastern region, with highs reaching 30 to 33 degrees Celsius in both areas. Thunderstorms with heavy to extremely heavy rain are expected in parts of the southern region, where temperatures will range from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius, reaching highs of 28 to 32 degrees Celsius.
