Husband attacks wife with shotgun.

This story follows on from a previous article about domestic violence.

A woman surrendered to police on Friday night after she allegedly shot dead her estranged husband in self-defence in Chumphon’s Sawee district.

“Jai” (not her real name), 44, waited for police at her house after she shot and killed her 46-year-old estranged husband, “Won” (not his real name).

Police found a shotgun near the man’s body. Four rounds of ammunition were found in his trousers back pocket.

Jai told police that she had been living separately from her husband for several months after she learned that he had a mistress in a nearby tambon.

She said her husband came to her house on Friday night carrying the shotgun and tried to force her to reconcile. She refused because she knew that he had not yet severed ties with his mistress.

Jai said the husband became angry and hit her once with his shotgun, hurting her shoulder.

He then fired at her once while she was trying to flee, she told police, but missed. She picked up her father’s .357 revolver and fired one shot through his neck.
It will be interesting to see if there is more to this story than initially appears.
