The 29 year-old “star” of a video that went viral on Thai social media has been fined by police. She was charged with sitting on a moving car and fined 500 bht.

The woman, whose name was withheld, was charged with travelling on a vehicle in a dangerous manner as per the Land Traffic Act 1979 .

She was filmed sitting on the trunk of her Bangkok husband’s taxi on Sunday. She reported to police on Thursday evening.

Her 57-year-old husband will meet police next week.

The incident arose from the couple quarrelling over family issues. The husband dropped his wife off for work in the Town area but they argued because the woman wanted to take the day off.

The woman told police her belongings were still in the taxi, which her husband had locked and refused to open for her, so she sat on the trunk.

The husband will face the charge of reckless driving in disregard to others’ safety, punishable by up to three months in prison and/or a Bt10,000 fine.
