Having just returned from a golf trip to Khon Kaen, I felt it would be a good idea to put my “Buriram Times” hat on and report on this excellent restaurant.
It is situated among the more lively bars in Khon Kaen on Pracha Samarn Road and is owned by likeable Dutcman Jan. It is spacious, well-appointed with tables attractively set out.
The Yokotai is open from 7am until 2am , providing high quality food, both Thai and Western. Prices on the menu range from 69bht to 900bht which Jan accepts is not the cheapest in town. However, the emphasis is on quality. Only the finest Australian beef is used and all the vegetables are bio-organic. Pork and chicken dishes come from free-range creatures.
Everything is made fresh in the modern fusion kitchen, including the chips. No pre-frozen products are used.
Food is available for takeaway with free delivery.
A wide selection of alcoholic beverages is available, including draught Leo and Chang, as well as the usual Thai bottled beers. Tiger is also on offer. Naturally, the usual spirits are available as well as a selection of cocktails from the cocktail bar which is actually on the street in front of the restaurant.

Obviously, non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
Free wi-fi is provided and during the high season there is live music on Sundays.
There is seating available for 65 people,(inside and out) and Jan is more than happy to take bookings for parties and celebrations. Jan is keen to promote the Yokothai as a family restaurant with children very welcome. Indeed, childcare is provided so mums and dads can relax.
The service is first-class by friendly, efficient staff and more details can be obtained on the Yokotai Facebook page.
Full address is :- 3/12-13 Pracha Samarn Road, Khon Kaen, 40000. Tel:- 0877709946.

Just to round things off, I have eaten twice here and found it a very enjoyable experience. The fish and chips were excellent but the beef stroganoff (with rice and noodles) was superb.
Pay Jan a visit, you won’t be disappointed.
