Bangkok Cuts Songkran By One Day In A Desperate Bid To Save Water

The Deputy Governor of Bangkok has announced that this year’s Songkran festival has been reduced from four days to three, April 12-14 . As the country is hit by the worst drought in two decades , it is estimated that over 5 billion litres of water will be saved by the reduction.

My own personal opinion (NOT the Buriram Times ) is that the festival should be cancelled altogether, especially in areas of severe drought. I think it is obscene that so much water will be simply wasted when water shortages have reached crisis point and I sincerely hope that everyone will use common sense and save precious water.
