Thai media reported yet another sickening dog attack in Ayutthaya.
Incredibly it was the fifth time that the dog in question had attacked someone.
And it has still not been put down.
This time a five year old boy was left fighting for his life in hospital after being mauled in the head while playing with other children at a playground.
He needed 39 stitches amid fears that he could get a serious infection and die.
Phoom had gone to the playground with friends but needed the toilet and went off on his own to use the loo.
But while he was there the brown and white Thai breed jumped over a fence and attacked him from behind knocking the little boy to the ground.
He was then savagely mauled and bitten across the face and head.
Only the intervention of an older boy with a golf club prevented the attack from continuing as the friend succeeded in chasing off the dog.
Phoom was rushed to Tha Rua hospital where he has been for the last five days after getting thirty nine stitches and a lot of life saving drugs.
The Tha Rua district chief is set to meet the father and the dog owner today while police are also investigating after a complaint was received from the father Mongkhon, 54 and mother Pornwimon, 35.
The dog belongs to a man called Malayu, 45, and apparently it was the fifth time that he had bitten someone in the neighbourhood of Tha Rua.
The dog lives in a house next to the playground where many children congregate.
There should be no need for a meeting with the dog’s owner, the animal should be dead already. Also the owner should be prosecuted for failing to control a dangerous animal.
It’s inconceivable that a dog can be allowed to attack five people. The dog problem is getting worse and in many villages it is not uncommon to see them wandering freely in packs of eight or more.
Dogs that are patently not being looked after properly should be rounded up and put down, in the best interest of the community and the animal.
