Banmaeng village school just south of Thaiwatsadu is very small with fewer than 60 pupils. However, it is poorly funded and is in need of help.
GOMS sent a delegation to investigate their needs.
They found a computer department with just 6 towers, 4 of which weren’t working. The school had a library with few books. School signage was miss-spelt and virtually no English was taught.
At the monthly GOMS meeting (held first Thursday of the month at Jimmy’s Sports Bar) it was unanimously voted that we offer our help.
The first task is to get the computers all up and running and a start has already been achieved with the repair of two of the broken units. The other two units will be repaired before the new term starts in May.
GOMS will then turn their attention on to the shortage of books and would appreciate any book donations from Buriram Times readers.
This programme is a long term commitment and it is hoped that new members would come along to offer their help. The May meeting is on the second Thursday at Jimmy’s.
