Relentent and heavy rainfalls throughout the past week have resulted in widespread flooding in Loei province, located in northeastern Thailand. This has resulted in the submersion of more than 60 homes, agricultural areas, government buildings, and even a central sports field. The continuous precipitation has led to the overflowing of many smaller rivers, with a particular focus on the Loei River, which is the primary waterway in the province.
Although water levels in the Loei River have recently gone down in certain areas such as Phu Luang, Wang Saphung districts, and Loei’s main town, the flooding continues to cause significant problems, especially in the low-lying regions along the riverbanks in the Chaiyaphruek area of Loei’s central district.
Communities like Kaeng Pla, Na Bon, and other residential areas have been the most affected by this excessive flooding, resulting in over 60 houses being submerged, impassable roads and pathways, and substantial damage to agricultural land due to the persistent flooding in Loei.
In response, the local government, represented by the Chaiyaphruek Subdistrict Municipality, has mobilized officials to distribute emergency food supplies and assess the extent of the damage experienced by affected residents.
