The United Nations Office on drugs and crime has confirmed that they will announce next week the appointment of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha as UN Goodwill Ambassador for Southeast Asia. The appointment was aimed at raising the profile and increasing support for development efforts that address the impact of crime on society, which in turn will be contributing to justice reform.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha has supported UNODC efforts in the region over the years, increasing visibility and mobilising partnerships, most recently promoting the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda.
Jeremy Douglas, Regional Representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific of UNODC, and Kittipong Kittayarak, executive director, Thailand Institute of Justice will make the official announcement of the appointment at the UN headquarters in Bangkok.
