The Thai Department of Meteorology (TMD) has issued its 13th advisory, indicating that several provinces will experience substantial rainfall on September 28-29. Anticipated weather conditions include strong winds, flash floods, and forest runoff in various areas, along with high waves at sea today.
The advisory primarily highlights a low-pressure system over the western portion of northern Thailand and a monsoon trough over the upper part of the country. This atmospheric setup is expected to result in heavy rainfall across the northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and southern regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity. Some areas are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall during the next two days.
The TMD has cautioned Thai residents to exercise caution due to the potential hazards posed by very heavy rain and strong winds, which could lead to flash floods and forest runoff, especially in hilly areas, near water bodies, and in low-lying basins. Motorists are advised to be vigilant while driving in rainy conditions and to avoid open areas, large trees, and fragile advertising signs.
In the northeastern region, today’s affected provinces include Loei, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, and Nakhon Ratchasima. Tomorrow, Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, and Chaiyaphum provinces in the northeastern region are expected to be impacted.
The public is urged to stay updated with the latest information from the Department of Meteorology through their website http://www.tmd.go.th or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, which are available 24 hours a day.
